I found this clean little Sand Beige Cutlass convertible with a Fawn colored top Built in Lansing, MI duing the 2nd week of May 1962 (build #5682 of the '62 It has had 4 previous owners, whom I owe much for the great care they have given it. It has been painted once and had one new top installed - not sure when. Altho I think the SlimJim transmission has been rebuilt, but other than that, mechanically I've driven it to Tenn (after the cold air mod in June '08) and got an average mileage Following Oldsmobile tradition, I named my car Sally, after a first grade girl who
on eBay in Mid Sep 07, as part of an estate sale. 3 bids in 4 days, pathetic at $1503.
Noting the seller had a car lot and stating he could pull the ad at any time, I bid a more
reasonable sum and sent him an IM. He accepted my offer and the rest is history. It
is almost identical to my beloved Pontiac Lemans conv that I owned from April 1962
until November 1971. I fell in love all over again as it rolled down the ramp at
7:30 a.m. on Oct 2nd, 2007.

model year). It has a '63 model 195HP 215 engine, auto trans with console, and floor
shifter. It also has power steering plus many other options. It was almost surely a special
order build. It was sold from Brant Oldsmobile in Pittsburgh, Pa on Jun 12, 1962.
I've talked to two of them (#2 and #4). In the late 70's, it was moved west to Massilon,
OH, where owners #2 and #3 put it in parades and fairs. Then in 2003, it was sold and
moved to Dover, OH where it was driven very little (less than 100 mi). From 1983 to 2007,
there were only 2000+ miles put on it, according to copies of the last two titles I have.
It showed 78,996 mi when it rolled out of the trailer.
its owners took good care of it, they drove it so little and at such low speeds in
parades during its last 25 years, they didn't notice the deterioration of the rubber
bushings and mounts, the brakes, or that it had a small leak near the top of the gas
tank.
it is in original condition. The seller spoke of an accident and some front end work.
It looks like it was done fairly but not 100% :-(
per gallon over 20. It boogied right along at 65(up to 85+)mph. The only changes I plan
on making now are raising the body back up 2+ inches where the springs have sagged
over the years, so I can replace the 13" wheels with 14" US Indy mags. I also plan to
switch over to an alternator.

used to follow me around all the time back in 1941 :-)
