1961 Corvette

I was 16 years old when this car was built in 1961. I really liked this car.
From that time on, I wanted to own a 1961 Corvette.

I had a 1956 Chevy 2-door hardtop with a 3-speed on the floor when Pat
and I married in 1968. We traded it in for a 1966 GTO with 3 2-bbl carbs,
and a 4-speed.

We lived overseas for nearly 20 years and have now lived in Maryand for 19
years. Finally in 2003, I found the 1961 Vette on the Internet after
searching for several months and waiting for 42 years to get it.

I replaced the 2-bbl intake and carb with a new Edelbrock 4-bbl carb and
the correct year intake from another Corvette 283 cu-in engine. I did this to
the GTO 30 years ago. So, I figured if I could do it then, I could do it myself
again now. It works like a charm with a slight modification with a spacer
between the carb and the intake manifold.
